Element 7: Leverage Monitoring as a Tool for Continuous Improvement

A monitor's role has an added layer that goes beyond checking for compliance. It is about identifying what needs to be changed and then helping with those improvements; articulating what has happened as a result of the monitoring back to the grantees, so they can effectively resolve outstanding issues or concerns; and sharing information gathered from the monitoring to inform other relevant state functions that can help address issues such as policy development and training, as well as share best practices for replication across the state.
